About RMA

Founded in 1914, The Risk Management Association (RMA) is a not-for-profit, member-driven professional association whose sole purpose is to advance the use of sound risk principles in the financial services industry. RMA promotes an enterprise approach to risk management that focuses on credit risk, market risk, and operational risk.

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, RMA has 1,600 institutional members that include banks of all sizes as well as nonbank financial institutions. They are represented in the Association by 31,000 individuals located throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia/Pacific.

About the Chapter

The Fraser Valley RMA is a brand-new chapter and the first new Canadian chapter in a very long time.  We used to commute long distances in bad traffic and pay huge parking fees to attend events in downtown Vancouver.  But now there’s a group for financial service professionals that’s close to home and focuses on issues relevant to the valley community.


It’s only been a year, but the Fraser Valley RMA already has over 50 members, an active Board of Directors and a full slate of events and educational activities planned. Our Sept 12th Social Event will feature a rooftop BBQ, networking games and door prizes.  Two new events relevant to our commercial lending community will be an Agricultural and a Women in Banking event. We then hope to replicate last year’s successful and season-ending Real Estate Event in Abbotsford.


You can support your local RMA Chapter by attending an event. Or better yet, become a member and recommend us to a colleague.  The annual fees are low and the benefits are great.
