About the Chapter

The New Orleans Chapter, like all RMA chapters, is organized and run by volunteer members. We strongly encourage current or prospective members to become involved in shaping the future direction of the chapter by contacting any of the current officers or committee chairs. We would also be happy to discuss the many benefits that can be derived from membership in RMA.

Lending Horror Stories Discussion Panelists

Revitalizing the RMA New Orleans Chapter

The RMA New Orleans Chapter Update
The RMA New Orleans Chapter hosted a Lending Horror Stories Panel Discussion sponsored by Carver Darden on October 8, 2024 which was attended by over 40 people. The panel included Special Credits personnel from Fidelity Bank, Capital One Bank and Hancock Whitney Bank as well as attorneys from Carver Darden and Chaffe McCall. The bankers and
attorneys provided great insights into issues with problem loans and the collection of those loans.

In association with the aforementioned Lending Horror Stories program, the New Orleans Chapter will be presenting the Detecting Problem Loans and Problem Loan Workout classes on February 18 – 19, 2025. It is hoped that the insights gained from the panel discussion and the two classes will help to minimize losses from problem loans at our institutions.

The New Orleans Chapter is excited about co-sponsoring the upcoming Holiday Happy Hour on December 5th with the Turnaround Management Association. This year’s event at the Hot Tin rooftop area at the Pontchartrain Hotel follows a very successful event last year at the Virgin Hotel.

A Young Professionals social event in March 2024 is in the planning stages with the assistance of our new, younger board members. We look forward to a vibrant future for our Chapter with the assistance of this group of young professionals.

In these uncertain economic times, the Chapter is expected to host an Economic Overview program with Adrienne Slack from the New Orleans Branch of the Federal Reserve in April 2025. Ms. Slack provided valuable insights into the economy in April 2024 and we look forward to her insights again in this fiscal year.

With programs/events such as those above, the New Orleans Chapter hopes to continue its growth in membership in the 2024-2025 fiscal year as it did in the previous fiscal year with a 15% growth in membership. We are very pleased to have a vibrant board of directors with a number of new board members this fiscal year. My thanks to our Board members for their dedication to the New Orleans Chapter.

Chris Miller
President, RMA New Orleans Chapter
