Course Description:
Virginia became the first state in the nation to enact a permanent COVID-19 workplace health and safety standard on January 27, 2021. Although targeted at VA employers, many labor attorneys and public health experts expect it will be the blueprint for a Federal OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard. The standard includes numerous requirements applicable to commercial building/facility owners, operators, and tenants. The Standard requires businesses to implement policies, procedures, and controls to minimize the potential for the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. Key compliance requirements for employers, owners, operators, and tenants of public and commercial buildings include:
- Risk assessments for staff managing and operating the facility
- HVAC modifications and maintenance
- Occupant and tenant notifications of positive cases
- Occupancy limits and signage
- Routine cleaning and disinfection
- Employee, visitor, and contractor screening
- Face covering, PPE usage and COVID training
Banking operations face evolving challenges on multiple fronts to ensure compliance with state and federal COVID-19 workplace health and safety standards. Many requirements of the Virginia standard provide employers and building owners/operators with latitude to select the most appropriate protective measures, while other provisions are very prescriptive. During this session we will review and discuss requirements of the standard, how to comply, and your roles/responsibilities at multi-tenant facilities and multi-employer worksites, in anticipation of the VA Standard being adopted nationwide as the Federal OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard.
Who should attend: HR Managers, Loan Officers, Appraisal Managers, Credit Officers, Credit Administrators and other professionals who are responsible for protecting bank employees and customers when returning to the workplace.
