Matt McClureMatt McClure
President

Matt McClure is the Fair Lending Officer for Southern First, a $4B bank headquartered in Greenville, SC with offices in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. With more than 15 years of experience in the banking industry, he has held roles in credit, lending, and compliance, bringing a well-rounded perspective to his work. A results-oriented fair lending practitioner, Matt has a history of building and leading effective fair lending programs that strategically balance regulatory insight, data analytics and collaborative relationships to achieve successful outcomes that promote compliance and equity. Matt holds the Fair Lending Expert (FLE) Certification and is actively involved in industry leadership, including frequent speaking engagements sharing insights on fair lending, risk management, and regulatory compliance. He currently serves as President of the Upper South Carolina Risk Management Association and is a member of the Compliance Committee of the South Carolina Bankers Association.

Eric CarnellEric Carnell
Immediate Past President

Eric is the SC State Portfolio Manager at United Community Bank, and the Upper SC RMA’s Immediate Past President.  In his role at the Bank, Eric leads a team of commercial underwriters who are responsible for a $3.4 billion book of business and supporting over 50 commercial lenders.  He is focused on effective communication, efficient processes, maximum engagement, and getting better at the craft of underwriting.  Eric has been in banking here in the Upstate for over 20 years, half in commercial lending and half in commercial underwriting.  When he’s not critiquing credit memos, you’ll find Eric doing fun things with the family or hiking up the backside of some mountain somewhere.

Robbie Faucett

Robbie Faucett
Membership Chair

Robbie Faucett is the Membership Chair of the RMA Upper SC Chapter and the Southeast Regional Manager of Flexent, the asset-based lending subsidiary of Chesapeake Bank. In this position, he maintains relationships with peer and client banks, accountants, and financial intermediaries. Robbie started his corporate finance career in 1996 and was involved in a commercial finance startup in 1999, where he was Executive Vice President. Robbie joined Chesapeake Bank in 2012. With his 27 years of asset-based lending experience, Robbie enjoys creating accessible working-capital solutions with his partner banks to help their C&I customers fund operations and growth without cash constraints.

Diana GarrettDiana Garrett
Treasurer

Diana Garrett serves as our RMA Upstate SC Treasurer. Outside of the RMA, she is a Director of Risk Governance and Control within TD's Enterprise Risk Management function. Diana joined the banking industry as an internal auditor in 2006 and has held various risk and control positions across the three lines of defense. Most recently her focus is in Environmental and Social Risk Management at TD Bank. Diana holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from USC Upstate and an MBA from Webster University. Currently, she is working to complete her MA in Legal Studies. Diana has been in the Greenville, SC area for ~22 years after relocating from South Africa. In her free time, she serves as a Committee member for her local Scouting Pack and Troop and loves the outdoors (including the SC heat).

Marisa Stephens
Communications Chair

Marisa Stephens is the Director of Marketing at Southern First Bank and serves as our Communications Chair. Raised in Greenville, after graduating from Clemson, she began her marketing career in the city she loved and watched grow up alongside her. From the automotive industry to real estate and now in banking, she has spent her career helping local businesses share their stories and connecting clients making impactful financial decisions with experts who truly care. As Director of Marketing, she executes the bank's marketing and advertising strategy across the eight markets Southern First serves in the Southeast and enjoys the privilege of supporting a team who enable dreams every day. In 2025, Marisa was named one of Greenville Business Magazine's Best & Brightest Under 35, and she was selected for the Greenville Chamber's Leadership Greenville Class 52. Marisa leads Southern First's annual United Way giving campaign, which was awarded Most Creative Campaign in 2024. She enjoys volunteering for a variety of Upstate nonprofits with the Southern First team. Outside of the office, she is an avid Harry Potter fan and collector and enjoys reading. She and her husband love to travel, watch Formula 1 races, and walk their two dogs together.

Michelle Brewer
Financial Oversight Chair

Michelle Brewer has served as a senior compliance manager at BECU since December 2024, leading efforts in fair and responsible banking. Prior to joining BECU, Michelle spent much of her early career at United Community Bank, formerly The Palmetto Bank. With over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, she has developed successful compliance programs, worked collaboratively across teams, and used data to uncover insights and tell stories that support informed decision-making. She has spearheaded initiatives in BSA, compliance, vendor management, CRA, UDAAP, and fair lending, holding leadership roles such as BSA officer, chief compliance officer, and fair and responsible banking officer. Michelle holds associate degrees in marketing and business management, is a graduate of the South Carolina Bankers School, and earned her CRCM certification through the American Bankers Association. She is passionate about mentoring young adults and supporting community development. In her free time, she enjoys spending time in nature and recently hiked St. Cuthbert’s Way, a 62-mile cross-border trail between Scotland and England.

Steven RogersSteven Rogers
Secretary

Steven Rogers serves as Secretary for the RMA Upper SC Chapter. He has been a Credit Advisor with Pinnacle Financial Partners and its predecessor banks for over 17 years with a total of over 20 years of experience in commercial banking. In his role, he underwrites and manages a portfolio of C&I credits in the Upstate as well as supports underwriting of dealer finance deals across the state. Steven also serves as Chairman of the Credit Committee for the South Carolina Bankers Association.
