RMA Editorial Style and Design Guide – Introduction
The
RMA Editorial Style and Design Guide
combines and supersedes the Word versions—
RMA Editorial Style Guide
and
RMA Style and Design Guide
—of RMA's two style guides. This Web-based guide is a quick reference tool to help RMA employees and contributors follow a style that is consistent and appropriate for both print and electronic matter. It is a supplement to, not a replacement for, other editorial references, in particular,
The Chicago Manual of Style
. The
RMA Editorial Style and Design Guide
follows conventions outlined in:
The Chicago Manual of Style
, 13th Edition 1982 (print).
Merriam-Webster Online
http://grammarist.com/
As with any organization, there are certain language conventions and presentations that are specific to RMA. This guide contains these conventions and will enable RMA writers, editors, content managers, and freelancers to produce material for RMA in a consistent manner. It addresses topics specific to RMA that might differ from or might not be adequately covered in
The Chicago Manual of Style
. In addition, the guide addresses some of the most frequently raised questions of style in order to offer a quick reference tool.
The professional recommendations made in this guide are designed to achieve the following objectives:
To ensure that every publication achieves a standard of professionalism appropriate for RMA.
To ensure stylistic consistency within individual publications and across all RMA publications.
To increase efficiency by eliminating the need to repeatedly address the same stylistic details for every publication.
If you have questions or want advice on matters of
RMA style
, please contact the Marketing Department.
As elements of style and usage continue to evolve, we will update this guide.
